Using right tissue paper can save huge costs

The demand for and consumption of tissues is mainly found in urban areas, including Bangkok and the metropolitan area. Many Thai consumers do not use different types of tissue and hygiene products such as tissues and toilet paper just for their intended purpose. Many people, especially those living in rural areas, do not mind using toilet paper for other purposes in addition to toilet use. As a result, some of them use toilet paper as a substitute for tissue products. The main factor of this choice cannot be anything else but “cost”.

Generally, tissue paper can categorised into 4 type by its usage and purpose. First of all, toilet tissue is the most commodity in the toilet. Often, we can see this type of tissue paper in cylindric dispenser on dinning table in most of local restaurants in Thailand. However, the main purpose of this paper is to wipe and clean after defecation. The main characteristic of this type should be soft  and most important must be easily decayed when it gets wet to avoid getting stuck in the toilet.

Transform your office paper to a toilet roll

At Eco-Products 2009, Oriental Co., Ltd. exhibited a revolutionary recycling machine called White Goat, which makes toilet paper from shredded paper.

White Goat also has a shredding machine in it. The shredded paper first goes into a hopper, where it is untangled in small batches, and it’s then dissolved in a pulper. Any foreign matter is removed in a tank, and the pulp consistency is adjusted. Next, the wet paper is thinned out and dried. The dry paper is wound into finished toilet rolls, which emerge from the outlet one at a time. All of these tasks are done automatically.

White Goat won a top prize at the Monozukuri Nippon awards. It has patents pending, and Oriental is getting ready to release it in summer 2010.

Low-cost advertisement to right target group on Tissue paper

shapeimage_1
In Japan and many countries around the world, it is common to receive free samples of stuff to promote buying the actual thing. The costs have not stopped Japanese manufacturers from going all out to encourage potential customers.

Four billion packets of free tissues are distributed every year in Japan.  But why is it that many  Japanese organizations use tissues to promote their message? Because, in Japan, tissue-marketing is a proven and inexpensive way to advertise. For a cost of as little as ¥10 to ¥25 you can get your message directly into the hands of potential customers. What's more, consumers who accept the tissues are likely to actually read your advertisement. If you're lucky, they'll look it over several times before the tissues are used up.

Fluorescent in Recycled Toilet Paper can cause skin cancer

A recent article in Ocean Magazine carried a story about a lady last-named Huang. She conducted tests on a particular brand of tissue after feeling itchy from using it. “I felt itchy and uncomfortable after using it. So I had doubts about the sanitation conditions of the paper.” said Ms. Huang.

“I burned a piece of tissue on a white plate and I was surprised by what I saw – it turned into black ash and left a layer of a greasy and sticky thing on the plate which could not be washed away.” Huang added.

Many bathroom tissues in China are made from recycled paper. Deinking agents, softener, chlorine, talcum powder (calcium carbonate), fluorescent brighteners, dispersing agent, bleaching agents and other chemicals are often added to recycled paper to make whiter and softer tissues.
